National Digital Preservation Programme
Department of Information Technology, Government of India is in the
process of formulating the national initiative on National
Digital Preservation Programme (NDPP). It is intended to address
the technological challenges involved in the long term digital preservation
of historically significant cultural materials, heritage archives,
citizen information, libraries, scientific data, and other important
information resources, etc.
India with its massive plans for e-governance
and use of ICTs in education, health and other sectors of the economy,
needs to address the issue of digital preservation as early as possible.
It is with this objective in mind that the National Digital Preservation
Programme is being formulated. |
